- Keepsift collects no data. No personal data, no usage data, no analytics, no crash reports sent to us.
- Everything happens on your Mac. Photos are compared on-device with Apple's built-in frameworks.
- Nothing leaves your Mac. Keepsift does not connect to the internet, has no account and no servers.
- No tracking, no ads, no third parties. There are no third-party SDKs in the app.

What Keepsift accesses, and why
Folders and drives you choose
Keepsift runs in the macOS App Sandbox. It can only read the folders and drives that you pick in the open panel or drag onto its window. It reads those images to find exact duplicates and visually similar photos. Keepsift remembers the folders you scanned (as a macOS security-scoped bookmark stored inside the app) so you can scan them again later; it cannot see the rest of your Mac.
Your Photos library (only if you allow it)
Keepsift asks for Photos access only when you choose Scan Apple Photos, and only uses it to find duplicate and similar photos in your library. If you decline, the rest of the app works normally. You can change this at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos.
Moving items to the Trash
Keepsift never deletes anything without your confirmation. Files you choose are moved to the macOS Trash; Photos items are moved to the Recently Deleted album in Photos. Nothing is permanently erased by Keepsift.
Data stored on your Mac
To make repeat scans faster, Keepsift keeps a local cache of image "fingerprints" (numeric descriptions used to compare photos) inside its own sandbox container. It also saves your settings, such as scan options and the last folders scanned. This information never leaves your Mac, is not shared with anyone, and is removed when you choose Help → Clear Similarity Cache or delete the app.
What Keepsift does not do
- It does not upload, sync or back up your photos anywhere.
- It does not use cloud services, AI services or any online API.
- It does not include advertising, analytics or tracking code, and does not use the advertising identifier.
- It does not sell, share or rent information, because it does not collect any.
Children
Keepsift is suitable for all ages and collects no information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. Any change will keep the same principle: your photos stay on your Mac.
